Karin Knudson joined Phillips Academy in 2014, and became chair of the Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science in 2017. She considers working at Phillips Academy her dream job, and delights in sharing the beauty and utility of mathematics with students. It is a particular privilege to help students see the role of curiosity and creativity in the classroom, and to help students grow and succeed as learners. Karin enjoys teaching in all areas of our department curriculum: mathematics, statistics, and computer science, and has a particular interest in interdisciplinary work, stemming from her research in computational neuroscience. She is a house counselor in Double Brick House, where she lives with her husband, Colin, and her dog, Pete. In her spare time, she enjoys running, rock climbing, hiking, travel, yoga, and art.
