At Andover, the community of students who like math is sizable. Some did advanced mathematics when they were quite young; many join the student math club and the math team, which has ranked number one in New England in several math competitions. These students share their curiosity and knowledge with their peers and with a faculty of dedicated mathematicians who have written math textbooks and who have been at the forefront of curricular movements in the field. Phillips Academy’s computer science team is ranked one of the top in the country. Evening math study halls, proctored by faculty, are available to all.

The Mathematics department is located in Morse Hall, equipped with computers, graphing calculators and overhead projection systems. Computer courses include introduction to computer programming and Advanced Placement Computer Science. Programming languages studied are Java and Python.
